September was a dynamic month for the English Language Department, with a strong focus on developing communicative English skills among our international student groups. We worked closely with learners from Turkey, Japan, and Algeria, encouraging them to build confidence and fluency through interactive speaking tasks, role-plays, and collaborative projects. Alongside classroom activities, students benefitted from enriching cultural and educational visits, including a trip to the Old Bailey, which gave them valuable insight into the British legal system, and an excursion to the Natural History Museum, which combined language learning with cultural exploration and allowed them to practice English in real-world contexts. |

We’re delighted to share that the new academic year for our HE Hospitality Management and International Travel and Tourism Management programmes is off to a fantastic start! After a warm welcome during inductions in September, our new HNC students have settled in brilliantly, while our returning HND students are already building on their previous success. The first weeks of lessons have been full of energy, collaboration, and enthusiasm, and it’s been wonderful to see students engaging both inside and outside the classroom. Alongside their studies, they can look forward to an exciting calendar of extracurricular activities—from field trips and industry seminars to webinars and guest speakers—designed to enrich their learning and connect them with the sector. |

Docklands Academy is excited to announce the launch of its new Speaking Club, building on the success of our previous gatherings at Hazev Restaurant, where members of the community came together to share ideas and grow in confidence. Now hosted at our home site, this new chapter of the club offers an even richer experience, featuring local individuals with valuable knowledge, expertise, and the ability to inspire. With a focus on developing communication and public speaking skills, the Speaking Club provides a welcoming space where participants can learn, practice, and connect, while continuing the tradition of fostering community spirit and personal growth. |

Right on the doorstep of Docklands Academy London, students have even caught glimpses of Angelina Jolie filming her new movie in Canary Wharf. The film, Anxious People, is adapted from Fredrik Backman’s bestselling novel and sees Jolie take on the role of Zara, a sharp-tongued banker swept up in a botched hostage drama where tensions rise and secrets spill. The production has turned Docklands into a cinematic backdrop, showing off its striking skyline, bustling streets, and riverside energy — a reminder of how exciting and well-connected this part of London is to live, study, and explore. |
